My other option would be to hire someone to customize my Blogger template (if you are or know someone who can do this, please let me know!) so that I can have a blog a little more my style and with a more professional look. Since you are the reader and I just work here, please let me know what you think. Should I stay or should I go? What do you like or dislike about my blog appearance and layout? What would you change.

Moving to Wordpress has many advantages, but can also be a little tricky coming over from blogger. I would recommend you create a free wordpress blog, through wordpress.com first, and kick the tires a little. See if you enjoy the options and get a sense of what wordpress will offer. It's a lot of fun, but will take a little to a lot of research as they have many plugins and widgets.
I would also recommend that you consider self hosting through godaddy or a similar service. This will take some patience and research again, but it has been well worth it for me. Let me know if you have any other questions as I moved over from blogger myself.
